A Fabulous Break,...

Memorial Day Weekend could not have come any slower. It seems like forever since I have had a break from work to just chill. I cannot explain how nice it has been to have a 3 day weekend! It was also nice to get a break from driving down to Salt Lake, we have done that the last 4 weekends in a row and that drive gets so old. We love our family and friends so much, but it was good to stay put and be at home. It was definitely needed, considering that I haven't had a break from my stressful workplace since New Year's! It has been heavenly:) We had plenty of time to play, relax, sleep, be outdoors (when it wasn't too cold) and just chill.
Thursday night we decided to stay up until 4:30 am playing our Wii and watching "The Office." It was so fun staying up so late. We haven't done that in a while but have been doing that a lot lately. It's been so fun! But it definitely took it's toll since we ended up rolling out of bed Friday morning at 10:30am. It looked like it was going to be a nice day so we decided to go grab some Old Grist Mill (the best sandwich place on the planet) and head over to the park. Oh, but wait, as true Utah weather does, clouds rolled in within 10 minutes of us driving to get our food, and it started pouring and the temperature dropped like 15 degrees. So we decided to improvise and do a picnic on our hardwood living room floor and watch more of "The Office." It was a good time. Oh and later that night we also decided to stay up until 3 doing the same thing we did the night before. Fun Fun Fun:)
Picnic in the house. No couch necessary.

Saturday we got out of bed at 10 (which felt so weird to me because normally I cannot sleep in to save my life) and we wanted to play outside but of course it was freezing and miserable outside. So we cleaned our house and had more staying in, eating junk food, lounging around watching movies. Then that night, we decided to go out!

We have been on a Sushi kick lately so we went to a cute little sushi place in town then we went and got Fried Ice Cream at Cafe Sabore because I was craving it immensely! If you haven't tried it before, try it! You will wonder how you ever lived without it! SO YUMMY! Then we came home and all the lack-of-sleep caught up to us and we fell asleep trying to stay awake at about 10pm.

Sunday we headed to church, Brett played Xbox all day while I worked on our blog and surfed the net and watched The Office. We then decided, since it was a beautiful day and the sun was showing it's face for the first time in what has felt like years, to go to the temple to take some fun pics and then go on a picnic. They have gorgeous temple grounds at the Logan Temple and they just finished the Fountain they spent forever putting in so we got some good shots with that.

Our picnic was fun too, just chillaxin, listening to books and reading mags and basking in the sun.

Then came midnight, and we were hungry, so off to the only place in Logan that is open that late...Burger King! Yum. Then headed to bed around 1ish.
Today has been quite the trip. We decided to go fishing late last night so we were out of the house by 9:30am (only an hour later than our goal) and we set out to go up to Tony Grove Lake (about 40 minutes up Logan Canyon.) And while we expected to get up there and find green grass, a sereen lake with kids and dogs around and a fun picnic spot to spend our Holiday Day at, we found this:
Ewww! SNOW! My worst enemy! That was the last sight we wanted to see! So, since there were snowmobilers all around us, we turned back around with all our fishing gear, treats and drinks, and headed back home. But we made a pit stop at a Rick Springs (a natural spring that comes up out of the earth, it was neat) and then we found a fishing pond that was packed but decided to try it. So we found a great parking spot and set up our stuff in a nice secluded area.

We had been there for about an hour, enjoying ourselves, when the wind picked up and it got really cold and the clouds started heading in. Typical Utah weather I tell ya...it ruins everything. So we headed back home and now here we are again, just relaxin. I am hoping that I will be able to start doing some crafts that I have been craving to do the last couple of days before the beak is up. It's been a great weekend filled with unexpected weather, outdoor photo shoots and picnics, food, lots of The Office (we practically have it all memorized by now but we love it so much we just can't stop) and lots of Xbox for Brett and Blogging and surfing for me. It's been so great to have no worries about work. Too bad all good things come to an end and tomorrow it's back to reality. But it has been fabulous and I cannot wait for the next break...oh! And it's a 4-day week this week too so that's something to look forward too:) We hope you all had a fabulous holiday weekend as well and everyone was safe and happy!

You two are so funny and cute! Sounds like a great break and your pictures turned out really well. I am always impressed with how well you guys take pictures of yourselves. The fountain looks great at the temple!
