Dylan's Mustache Bash...

so this year, to celebrate Dylan's birthday, i wanted to have a party. a big party. last year we really didn't even do anything, and the reason was was that i was so overwhelmed with trying to decide what to do that my brain went into overload and we ended up doing nothing except small dinners with each of our families. no, this year i wanted a big party with our friends. so, after 3 weeks of stressing, planning, crafting (thanks for the help Cami), spending way more money than i thought we would, and baking, Dylan's Mustache Bash happened on Saturday night.

we partied until 2am. it was so much fun! i had no idea how much prep work went into something like this, but it was so much fun to put together, even with all the stress :) thank you to all our friends who came and supported us! we had such a blast, and Dylan just loved it!

family photos 2013

my goodness! hello neglected blog! i am surprised it let me log in and write another post, it's been so dang long! you know how it gets, you get busy, then you figure you have nothing to write about, then you have so much to write about that you don't want to do it all because playing catch-up sucks. so i am not going to play it, i am just going to blog about what we did this weekend. i am on a break from my new job (see, there's a perfect example of what hasn't been updated on here, yeah, i need to get on the bloggin' train again) so I thought I would post a post.

yes, i attempted family pictures with my camera, my remote and my new tripod. let me tell you, i understand why photographers pay other photographers to take their photos. it is TOUGH! especially if you have a little boy who just wants to be put down so he can eat dirt and find as many rocks and sticks as he can. but, we attempted, and i am rather proud of what came out of our fun-filled family session up the canyon. we didn't get as many with Dylan as I would've liked, but we got enough. and don't be surprised if you see some later this year taken by an actual person, i would actually like to not stress next time our photos are taken.
enjoy :)

at the zoo...

this last Saturday we decided, since it was going to be amazingly beautiful outside, that we wanted to go to the zoo with our good friends Evan and Karlie, and their twins (who are Dylan's best friends) Bentley & Chloe. we couldn't have had a better time. we love hangin' with these two and the kiddo's had a ball.

the kids favorite were the seals and the otters. if you couldn't tell by the pictures, they adored watching them! after this fun extravaganza, these two came over later that night for pizza, treats and some good laughs until 1am. we are good at staying up late when they come over. they are probably so sick of us, but we just love them. thanks for the good times friends :)

oh, ps, for those of you who have been so nice and have been wondering how i am doing, i am 100% better! yay! hope i never have to go through that again.

7 things I learned today...

1. Food poisoning puts me out faster than any other sickness
2. Making myself throw up just to feel better is something I never thought I could do. Then today happened.
3. Dylan is the most patient little boy. I've been on the couch all day (when I'm not hovering over the toilet) and he has been good to just watch his shows all day long. Sorry kid. Tomorrow your amazingly fun mom will be back ;)
4. Crying makes the body aches that come with food poisoning not feel so bad.
5. I can fall asleep in the bath tub. This has never happened to me before until today. And it happened 4 times. I guess only getting 2 hours of sleep due to vomiting takes it out of you.
6. God's hands is in everything. Brett just happened to bring home a giant jug of Gatorade last night after work. He never brings home Gatorade. Ever. We have been married almost 4 years and I can count the number if times he has bought it on one hand. That stuff has saved my booty today. Brett wasn't able to take work off to stay home with me, so some divine intervention was definitely involved.
7. Next time I get food poisoning, I'm going to remember that getting up too fast after vomiting may result in loss of consciousness.
