First Comes Love, Then Comes Marriage...

THEN COMES BABY!!! We are pregnant!!! I am SO glad I can say it out-loud now instead of keeping it a secret, because it's all I have wanted to blog about and talk about, not just think about and talk about with only my hubby and family. This post is more going to be about how and when we found out, how I told Brett, the first Doctor's visit, and how I've been feeling. I really want to remember all the little details of my pregnancy so I am going to jot them down here, as well as other fun things we are up too.

FINDING OUT: So, as most of you know, when you don't have a period for a long period of time there is something going on. Well, I hadn't had mine for about 3 months, but that is quite normal for me since mine are and always have been super irregular. I could go 5 months without having one and then have 4 in a row. Very unpredictable. But I got a different feeling this time when it didn't come. We, as many of young married couples do, have had many pregnancy scares. More than I can count in fact. And of course, this time, I just didn't really worry about it. I didn't take a pregnancy test at my first little worry like I normally did, I just kind of let it go and didn't really worry about it. I wasn't feeling sick, no having to go to the bathroom a ton, I felt absolutely normal. A little more tired I guess but I am always tired so that didn't really ring any bells. Then, on Wednesday October 6, during my lunch break, Brett and I went to Smith's and got a cheapo pregnancy test. I couldn't hold back my curiosity anymore. Brett assumed I would just take it after work, but I couldn't wait. I gulped down tons of water, waited an hour then took it at work. The funny thing was, I was praying so hard that it was positive. I think that is when you really know if you want a baby or not, if you are excited for the results or dreading them. So I took it and waited for the pink lines to come...and waited, it felt like a lifetime. Then I looked and it appeared to be negative, and I started to tear up because I was super let-down. But then, as fate would have it, IT WAS POSITIVE!! I was SO excited!!! I don't think I will ever be able to describe the feeling I had into words. It was excited, ecstatic, overjoyed, scared, nervous and so so happy all at the same time. I felt the spirit so strongly and I immediately said a prayer to Heavenly Father thanking him for this exciting opportunity! I was just on cloud nine the rest of the day. I couldn't WAIT to tell Brett, since most of you know, Brett has wanted kids since the day we got married. The end of the workday could not come soon enough.

TELLING BRETT: Brett came and picked me up from work, and I was super smiley and cheery and happy. I though the would ask me why I was extra chipper, but he didn't even notice. He just talked about his afternoon and asked me how my day was. Then we got home and we were out in the yard taking our puppies potty with all the beautiful leaves swirling in the air (it was October so there was no snow yet) and I pulled the pregnancy test out of my purse and just said "Brett, I have something to show you." He came and saw it and he didn't believe it at first. He thought it was a joke and I had someone at work take it to be funny. But when I finally convinced him it was real, he was ecstatic! He was so so happy and just hugged me and kept feeling my tummy. It was so cute; the best reaction I could've hoped for. He is going to be THE best dad, I am so excited to see him with our little baby. Two nights later, Friday (our date night) Brett showed up at my work to pick me up with this:

My favorite flower is Gerber Daisy and he was adorable and made me my "Cravings Survival Kit" and filled it with Baked Lays BBQ chips (he was right on the nose on that one, I am on my 3rd bag of them, they are great for snacking on at work) cheese sticks, wheat thins and chocolate. He is THE best! I just love him. So after my surprise, we went to our favorite place: Texas Roadhouse. We are obsessed. It was a fun night:) A good way to celebrate our first baby.

FIRST DOCTOR'S VISIT: This was SO cool! So we got in there, I won't go into tons of detail but they just ask you a bunch of questions and stuff. Then you get to go to the ultrasound room and that's where the magic happens. So my Doctor did a normal ultrasound first and he searched and he searched and he couldn't find anything. This was my worst fear. Brett and I were super worried and so I had to change into a gown because they had to do a vaginal ultrasound so they could find the little thing. It kinda hurt but it was worth it when we saw that little heartbeat on the screen. IT WAS AMAZING!!!! Brett was holding my hand and it was crazy to know that we created that little heartbeat. He told us the baby was only 7 weeks old, that's why they couldn't find it with the normal ultrasound. I didn't feel so bad then:) But, what was cool, is that he told us that we conceived on September 11 (give or take a couple days) and I took the pregnancy test on Oct. 6, so I was only 3 weeks pregnant when I took it. CRAZY! They usually aren't accurate for about 6 weeks at least, so that was pretty cool. Then they gave us our first ultrasound photo and had me do some blood tests and then we were on our way. It was AMAZING!

WHAT'S HAPPENED IN THE LAST 12 WEEKS:

-My chest has stopped hurting unbearably. That has been a HUGE blessing!!

-I have been extra tired. I need at LEAST 8 hours of sleep minimum. Before I was pregnant 6 hours was enough.

-I have had no sickness AT ALL! I have been super lucky. I have had some heartburn in the last couple of days, but other than that, nada.

-I don't have too many cravings yet, except for Baked Lays BBQ chips and FRUIT! I eat a banana or an apple for breakfast everyday, I NEVER did that before. EVER. I just crave it. It's great! Oh, and I did eat a whole jar of pickles a couple of Sundays ago.

-I have been trying to continue doing the gym 3 times a week, when we have time and when I don't want to go to bed right after work.

-I have been a lot more thirsty lately. Water=yummy

-I am having some very emotional mood swings. The week after we found out I cried literally every night after work because I was so scared to be a mom. And not just cry, i sobbed. Poor Brett just sat there and held me and told me how great it was going to be. What a sweetheart. I have also gotten angry over some small things I normally wouldn't. Sorry Brett.

-I have gained 6 pounds and it's annoying because it's not all in my waist, a little went to my legs. NOT GOOD. I can't wait for it all to go to my tummy.

-99% of the time I see chocolate or think of it, I want to barf. Very opposite of how I was before. I have no desire to eat it at all.

-My feet have either grown or swollen, but I had to go buy other flats yesterday because the ones I normally wear to work are now crunching my toes.

-My nose is my worst enemy these days. I smell anything from a mile away. It's super annoying.

-I have ZERO motivation to wear high heels now. Pregnany+Snow=want to be as comfy and safe as possible.

Ok I think that's all for now. And I am pretty sure if you read to the end of this post you are now 100 years old because it is so long. So, congratulations:) Like I said, this is more of a journal entry than for public amusement but if you were amused by it then I am very proud. On another note, only 192 days to go until we meet Baby Hancock. YAY!
