last week according to my android...

1. we went to the zoo this weekend for our neices birthday...Dylan was enthralled with the seals.
2. Dylan loving the car. he loves it as long as we aren't in there when it's nap time or when he's bored or when he's hungry...so basically he likes long rides about 4% of the time.
3. i came downstairs Thursday morning to find this note where my computer used to sit (on the counter). my sweetheart moved it into our office and organized it for me because he knew how much working at the countertop was hurting my back. huge surprise. i will just say tears welled in my eyes. love him.
4. guess who is practically walking? a still shot of our little man walking with daddy. he is wobbling all over our house now. come Friday, he will be running everywhere. no doubt about it.
5. if you have never eaten or purchased these from Costco, you are missing out. they are dried mango's and i ate an entire bag myself in a few days. and turns out, they aren't that good for you (very sugar-coated). i won't be buying them again until i can learn some self control. but that doesn't mean you shouldn't. they changed my world.
6. my husband deserved breakfast in bed Sunday in the a.m. so this is me taking a picture as the syrup was about to boil over (which it did all over the place) but oh my was it divine :)

random 11...

hmmm what to blog about when you are still trying to edit a million pics from photo sessions and from a California trip that you wanna blog about? i know! 11 random facts about Brett and i!
i started a post like this a few months back but for some reason i never published it. maybe i thought it was stupid, or lame, or that it would bore you to death. well, i need to update the blog with something but my Cali pics aren't ready yet, this is the day that you get to read our randoms list. we have about a million random facts about us and our relationship and us separately, but here are just a few to tidy you over and get to know us a little better :)

1. thanks to brett and his refusal to get out of bed in the morning (to give him a tiny bit of credit, he does have to wake up at 5:30) and snoozing his alarm every 3 minutes for 20 minutes straight. i have to wear earplugs to bed. and not to mention his snoring is impeccably loud! i don't know how i have slept with him without earplugs this whole time. thanks to those two foam squishies, i usually always get a good night's sleep.
2. we are soda addicts in our house. water just doesn't cut our thirst people. our fridge is always stocked with Caffeine Free Diet Coke and Voltage Mtn. Dew. If you are ever in the need for a beverage, come on over.
3. i have owned a Crockpot since the day we said "I Do" but it didn't come out of the box until a couple of weeks ago. i never knew how easy and scrumptious a meal could be just by sticking it in that thing and letting it sit for 8 hours. genius. that thing is my new best friend.
4. some couples talk in baby talk. some don't have any cute voices at all. when Brett and i are in a really good mood to joke around, we always do it in a voice with a lisp. i have been doing that with my sister for as long as i can remember, but i am not sure why Brett joined in since we sound ridiculous. but i must admit, i love it.
5. even though i am a stay-at-home mom, i never feed our dogs. go ahead, call animal control on me. i don't even know why this is, but i just don't want to. Brett always feeds them when he gets home. if he is getting home super late that night, i will drag myself the 5 feet it takes to feed them. but other than that, it's Brett's job.
6. we love to read books out loud together. a couple of Sundays ago we started The Hunger Games (wish we would've read it before we saw the movie but what can you do) and we literally, for 7 hours straight, sat in our backyard after Church and took turns reading to each other and eating snacks and cuddling with our pups and baby when he wasn't napping. definitely one of the best Sundays i can remember.
7. when we choose a place to eat out, Brett, without fail, every time, always says that he will eat wherever sounds good to me. and every time, without fail, i know that he will disagree with my first 3 choices. this happens every.single.time. and even though this has happened for as long as i can remember, i still manage to name places off. why? i don't even know.
8. Brett sings constantly. and not your regular songs. he makes up songs. every single day. to the tunes of church hymns and Christmas Carols only. those are the only tunes he chooses to sing his serenades too. it can get annoying, but mostly it makes me laugh because they are usually hilarious and ones that he knows will put me in a good mood or make me smile.
9. adding to #8, besides him making up songs by himself, we have gotten on a kick the last few months of when we talk, we sing what we say. sounds stupid i know, but it's a good way to laugh together. just picture yourself having an argument with your spouse, and all of a sudden they burst out in song the point they are trying to make. trust, it makes the argument disintegrate almost immediately.
10. one of our favorite things to do, if it's a holiday weekend, is make a midnight run on a Sunday night to a fast-food joint. we used to do it a lot more before the babe came along, but it's still fun to wake him up and go, because he doesn't mind being woken up for 15 minutes then goes right back to sleep when we get home so it makes it even more fun. i don't know why midnight runs are so fun, but we have been doing it since we were dating so it's kind of tradition.
11. our biggest pet name for each other is Pup. we are weird, i know. but i called him it within the first couple weeks we began dating and it totally stuck. and when we talk about Dylan, we refer to him as pup as well. we are so weird i know! i feel weird just writing this out. but, we love it, and it's us, and it's fun.

oh, and here's one from California to get you excited for my Cali post when i get done with the pics...

if i could write a letter to me...

i would say to be kinder to those around you. you never know when someone will leave this life. people come and people go, and once they are gone, you find yourself reflecting on how you treated them, each moment you had with them, and what you would've done differently if you knew they were going to go to heaven as soon as they did. death is a hard thing, make sure you treat everyone you meet, close to your heart or not, with respect, love and kindness. go out of your way to make people feel welcome and let them know you care.
i would say to let the little things go. don't make a big deal out of things that won't matter tomorrow. make sure you forgive quickly, be slow to anger, and to put yourself in the other person's shoes once in a while. you aren't always right, so don't pretend you are. always be the first to say sorry, and know it's okay to give in. you aren't losing the fight, you are just letting the other person know that you can compromise and that you can control your temper and your feelings. you will be glad you did.
i would say to take a date night with your husband once a week. leave the baby home, he will be just fine, and get out with your husband, just you two. it helps you see why you fell in love with each other without any distractions, and you get to see each other in the light you used to see all the time...without the kiddos. it's a good thing. your baby will be fine, and so will you, even if the tears come each time you drop him off. your relationship has strengthened so much because of your son, and it will get even stronger as you go out every week.
i would say to never, ever take even a moment for granted with your son. he is the most precious soul in your life, and he has made you better and happier than you ever imagined possible. he grows way too fast, so fast you don't even realize it. take time to cuddle him, play with him, read to him, rock him, sing to him, love him, kiss him, tickle him, hug him, and enjoy the tantrums, crying and endless crawling. know that each babble he makes will melt your heart, and you will love him more and more each second. and i would say that it's normal for you to get emotional every time you think about how much you love him. it's been like that since he's born, and i don't think that's going to change.
i would say take the time to get ready everyday. you were so good at this before you had a baby. everyday you got up, did your hair, makeup and felt sexy each time you went out the door. you are getting better at this, it's only taken a full year, but try to do it every day, even if you aren't leaving the house today. you deserve it, and so does your husband.
i would say keep the house clean. i know it feels like a tornado came through each time your baby touches any room, but that's okay. the messes can be cleaned up with effort. it's good exercise, and you will feel the spirit more with a clean house. it's been tried and tested :)
i would say to go visit your mom more. even though she is super woman, and always so busy, she really does need you and your company. she needs your support, your love, and someone to talk to in those hours she is home by herself. she is only human, and all of us need a shoulder to cry on or someone to vent to once in a while. make an effort to let her know you love her more than she knows, and that you are always there no matter what. go have sleepovers once in a while. she would love it, and so would you.
i would say to take the time to do the little things for your husband you used to do in the beginning of your marriage. make him scavenger hunts, play games, write him little notes, make alarms in his phone telling him how sexy and amazing he is, and buy him little gifts that won't break the bank, but will let him know that you were thinking of him. he is your everything, and you are so blessed beyond measure to have found someone who was perfectly made for you in every way, and someone who loves you and will do anything for you no matter what. he is amazing, and makes you better. let him know you appreciate all he does. because he does a lot.
i would say to pray often. i know your life is crazy, babies who are crawling leave hardly any time for yourself, but it's important. study the scriptures in the early morning before he wakes up. you can make the time, you just don't want to because sleep sounds more important. it's not. doing those things will only inspire you and better you as a mother, wife, friend, daughter, sister and person.

i would probably say a lot more. but that's all for now.

i got nothin'...

hey there blogging world! remember me? probably not. i have been MIA the last little while..probably because there has been nothing much to talk about or blog about. same old stuff has been going on around here until recently.

my main squeeze had his birthday over this last weekend, and man, was it fun! and 29...one more number means the big three-oh! oh my! he is old, but boy, do i love him :) i made him breakfast in bed, he opened presents, we saw the Avengers, shopped at Fashion Place and ate some yummy food court food (hot dog on a stick, your hats are awesome, but your hot dogs are even more awesome), had our first experience shopping at Dr. Johns (tmi, sorry) and laughed the entire car-ride home about everything we shouldn't have seen, and then partied and bbq'ed the night away with a bunch of friends and Brett and i ended the night showing off our sweet dance skills (or should i say, lack thereof) doing a duet dance from Just Dance 3. Dylan even let us stay out until 10:30! what a treat! he must've known it was his daddy's b-day so he made an exception to his 8pm bedtime.

i also had my first mother's day. what a good day it was! both my boys made it their mission to show their appreciation for me, and it made my heart melt. ah! such a good day!
this last weekend was one of those weekends where everything was perfect, and you don't want it to end because it's just so fun! those type of weekends aren't exactly rare, but when they happen, it breaks my heart to see them end.

i didn't want to do another post without pictures, and since it's been like a month since i have posted any pictures on here, i decided to do one of those "my life according to my phone" posts...feast your eyes on these bad boys:

yep, he crawled into the laundry basket, then grabbed his bottle and watched his movie. pretty smart.
                                                                  he sure loves his baths
                                                             listening very intently to daddy
the best sushi in the world
                                                                 the cutest nephew ever
                                                              the breakfast of champions
my new bedding. i am only a tad obsessed
the face i get when i'm eating and he wants some too (and yep, i give in every time)
                                                                        summer nails
sending pictures to daddy while he's at work
i guess he wanted the full impact of the movie
                                                                      his mirror face
birthday boy eating breakfast in bed
                                                                         present time
                                                             mint skinny jeans...i gave in
                                                                       ready to partay
                                                                 our first mother's day :)

and after such an eventful weekend, Monday morning showed it's ugly face and all 3 of us are now sick. Brett and i both woke up with sore throats yesterday and it was almost impossible to stay awake throughout the day. luckily, Dylan slept a good 4 hour nap in the afternoon so i got to relax.
today, we both feel worse and i think Dylan does too because he woke up, i gave him a bottle and he went right back to sleep, until just now.

being sick sucks, but when the whole family is sick, it sucks bad!

but, our 3 year anniversary is coming up this weekend...and my sweetheart is taking me somewhere secret. i just love surprises so i honestly can't wait. but the only requirement is that i have to leave Dylan for 2 whole nights....ummmmm i am hoping i can do it. i am going back and forth every 5 seconds so we will see if i can be brave and leave him for that long. he's not even one yet, so it's going to be just a little tough. i know i sound like a baby, but i've never left him longer than 1 night and i knew Brett was watching him so it wasn't even bad. this time, neither of his parents will be there so it could be a little traumatizing for us all (well, not Brett, just me and Dylan).

but, a weekend getaway could be just what i need right now...so we'll see :)

oh and ps: to all of you who comment, i love your comments :) from those of you i know and those i've never met, i love them all!! thank you:)

Good Day...

Today has just been an all around great day. For the last 5 days Dylan has been getting up at least 4 times in the night because he caught a super nasty cold from me last week, but after he slept not only through the night, but slept 14 hours (yes, you heard me right, 14) and I got a sound sleep, I woke up feeling like a million bucks. Then Brett came home super early from class and told me his class was canceled that morning, so we all got to hang out as a fam until I took Brett up to his 12:30 class, only to have him call me 5 minutes later and had me pick him up because his second class got canceled as well. Bonus! Brett has been gone pretty much all day every day (minus weekends) for the last couple weeks studying his butt off for school so this was a real treat! So, we went shopping. Of course :) I got the cutest leather jacket EVER (thank you 30% off coupon) at Head Over Heels, then we went coat shopping for Brett. Nada. That kid is THE pickiest person when it comes to anything he puts on his body. Seriously. Then we decided to go to the hippest place in town right now...Kneaders! It just opened last week and I have wanted to take Brett since he has never tasted the savory goodness of that place.

Turkey Bacon Avadcado on Focaccia Bread with Potato Cheese Soup for the Mr.
Chihcken Salad Sandwich on Crescent with Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup for the Mrs.

Both were so divine. Brett loved it but wasn't a huge fan of the price. I must agree with that. Our bill came up to $21.67. Yeah, kinda expensive, but really yummy. We decided that when we go there from now on (because, lets face it, we will :) we are going to share a meal. Fine with me, neither of us could finish our meals because they were so big.

Then once lunch was done, we went on a nice drive around town to see the leaves, came home and took a little family nap and relaxed until 5, then Brett headed up to campus yet again to study. And that's where the ol' boy's at now, and sweet Dylan is sleeping and I am relaxing.

Such a good day :)
